I usually have better luck buying a late used Harley at a car dealership that only has one on the showroom floor. Our local Mercedes dealer got one now, a 2008 Heritage Soft Tail for $14,900 and has about 8K miles. I hear they're willing to drop another $1K off the price. Its been sitting on their floor for over a month now.

The dealership in in Ft. Pierce FL (Coggins Mercedes Benz of Ft. Pierce) if anyone is interested.

What to do if you do all your own servicing and work in a shop where you get parts way less than any dealer would ever sell them to you? Now what's left that a dealer can offer me to convince me to lose my *** on a bike by paying MSRP on a new bike? Nothing.

A lot depends on what type of bike your looking to buy. A bike that's in demand like the Street Glide is less likely to get a deal than something that's been sitting around. Winter time in the colder areas are a good time, and right now any left over 09's may get you a deal. Also look for bikes that have been on the floor a while. Keep checking back at the dealer. If your not in a rush to buy you can find a deal.

Absolutely as soon as you decide! You can never get back one day in this life!!!
Seriously, as soon as you find the right one at a price you can live with. All the days spent thinking about it are less days you could be riding.

There's a lot of wisdom there.

Gibson, the Harley of the musical instrument world, used to run an ad back in the 1920's that said, "Our instruments continue to give satisfaction long after the initial price has been forgotten."

Thanks for all the input. Sorry I didn't provide much info. I live in the Western NY area. I have a Nightster to trade in, and want to get a Softail Deluxe/Heritage. Everywhere I checked will give me about the same $$ for my trade and what they are willing to take off $$$ a 2009, is what I can get a 2010 for (MSRP on these bikes prices came down).

I was just wondering if anyone checked out a bike and maybe went back at a later time and got a better deal.

I'll probably wait 'til after the new year (feb. maybe) and get one then. I'll have more $$ saved.

Too bad I missed the trade at MSRP, but I just started riding the summer of '08 and didn't think I'd ever be able to handle a bigger bike.
