Dynas are big sportsters

[quote=fxdxrider;5674850 My take on this thread is that a Dyna is like a Sportster in that they are (for Harley) basic/performance tools - so you'll probably ride them similarly and evaluate them the same way.[/quote]
I call BS to your post. There is nothing Basic about a Dyna. Because if you are going to call them a Basic riding tool then the NiteTrain would fall in that same catergory Hang around.

I think dyna line is much more than any of the sportsters and ride a hella lot better than any of the softtails. Iam 6'3 185lbs. The dynas with forward controls and tall bars are plenty comfortable. I also think all harleys need a stage 1 before leaveing sales floor. Then again since I started riding my road glide I cant see riding anything else.

Went from a Sporty to a Dyna
I have to agree and disagree with the statement.I traded in my 1200 XLC for a Dyna a year after I had the Sporty. I tried a few different bikes from Dyna Low all the way up to a Street Glide. I test rode a Street Bob and an hour later walked out of the dealer with the deal done. I think the Dyna's are the perfect middle of the road bike. They handle as well if not better than a Sporty in the twisties yet are big and comfy enough for 300 plus mile days. I'm 5'9 at 230 and my Bob fits me better than anything else. Oh and every Harley needs a Stage 1. They're all dogs coming off the dealer floor. Just my 2 cents.

Sure when people ask me what kind of bike I have I tell them I have a little Dyna. Chit better be carefully that I don't slip up and accidently say a different 4 letter 'D' word that would embarrasing.

I bought my 2006 Superglide and one week later (after getting the 1000 mile service) took it on an 11,374 mile ride around the country. I've since put another 12,000 miles or so on it. I'm 6'3" and I love this bike. It can be a tad small, but it's smooth, powerful, comfortable, and looks good.
You think your dealer might want to make more money by selling you a bigger bike?
Anybody who says the Dyna's are just big Sportsters is wrong and, even worse, missing the point.
The point is, make your own decision for yourself. Is the salesman going to be riding your bike? Frankly, I'd say screw any salesman who tried to up me like that. His statement re. Sporties and Dynas is misleading and insulting.
I like that you'd come on the boards here for advice, but ultimately, you have to decide. Take the Dyna out for a test ride, take a Fatboy out, have fun and buy the one you like.
As to taking a bigger bike out for a short ride... well, I have a hard time imagining a parking lot so small you couldn't maneuver in it. I mean, they're made for cars and trucks, right? Fatboys a whole lot smaller than THAT!
