Dynas are big sportsters

Actually, that would make them both hotrods. You only have to look at Georgia Girls bike to see what is a "girl's bike". And guess what, it's a softail. In fact, Schu, her bike looks like a fancier version of your's.

All depends what type of riding you are going to do.Sportsters are great bikes for about everything, except two up riding with alot of stuff to lug around.I think the Electra Glide standard is a perfect all around bike,it can do it all and with all the detach stuff they have now it can be ready for the long haul or to work every day. There is alot of good used bikes around right now also.

I went from a 97 Sporty to an 02 SuperGlide, and would probably still have it if I hadn't wanted a bike that would handle weeks long two up touring with my wife. I loved that SuperGlide. As stated previously 1) the Dyna is a whole lot more bike than the Sporty, and 2) that salesman is an idiot.

The salesman is right:
#1 A dyna is just a big Sportster. With a different motor and frame and a few other "small" differences.
#2 You should always spend more money, just like the salesman tells you.

I loved tossing around my Superglide in the corners and it was much more comfortable than a Sporty. I'm guilty too, of telling people it was like a Sporty on steroids. To me the Dynas are the sportiest of the big twins although the Crossbones and now discontinued Night train are a blast too.
As to the Stage I, my Superglide felt noticeably stronger after I put on a K&N A/C, V&H slipons and a V&H Fuelpak and that was with the 88ci engine.

The salesman is just trying to get you to buy a more expensive bagger. Your taking the correct approach. Do your homework, then go into the dealer and tell them what you want. If you use the salesman for advice on what you should purchase, he will just put your butt on the scoot that will give him the most commission.
oh.....and btw.......Dynas are just big Sportsters..........
