It's the wave of the future, in 20 years or so if you are still alive and able to go to Sturgis all you will see is BMW's and maybe a few old Harleys.
I hope I am dead and buried by then. I'll still turn over in my grave.
but I think I got it figured out.. I wouldn't doubt that that pic was taken of the funeral procession that just happened. They had to rent, beg , borrow , or steal enough bikes for all the chapters that came in for the funeral. Looking at the videos of the funeral there were quite a few members on all kinds of different rides. Most had dealer tags (the ones I could see anyway), probably loaners or rentals.

Well, a BMW is a really well made bike. And they are full of personality, a different kind of personality than a Harley, but they still have one. If I lived on my bike 24/7, I'd have to consider one.
Imagine customizing a K1300GT.......those things put out 170hp and can cruise at 90mph all day long.
...I know our !% club here won't let you ride anything but american vtwins, and baggars of any kind aren't aloud.
No baggers? Bummer, I guess I'm out ;-) That interesting though, I didn't know that.

In my opinion, BMWs are a tool with little character. They are supposed to be fantastic bikes and I completely understand why those that ride them love them but when I was looking for a comfy touring-type bike I didn't consider a BMW because they don't speak to me at all.
