With any of the touring bikes except the ones with a windshield, you will always have that, a touring bike. It will never be a cruiser style because it has a fairing that stays put. Some have fairings that move with the steering, one has a fixed fairing, which is kind of strange looking.
With a Harley Davidson it,s all about options for some of us, for others such as the big touring bikes there are no options, they,ll always be touring bikes.

Let not forget that the Softies, some Fatboys owners dress there bikes up.
The Heritage's comes with a shield and bags and on both they can be stripped down in a matter of minutes..

And it looks so good either way that you choose.Cruiser one day, touring bike the next. True freedom is in the options.

Differences between Sportsters, Dynas & Softails? That's easy. Sportsters are girls bikes, Dynas are the next step up...

I ride a Street Bob, with upgraded suspension, for more fun in the twisties. Have ridden Rocker, and didn't like it one bit. It was uncomfortable, and didn't lean at all. With Ironbags and highway pegs, Corbin seat with a backrest, I travel up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway for days on end. Also mountain roads in Vermont, New Hampshire and New York. 20,000 kilometres this year: I find it very, very comfortable.

That's what I love about this site. I learn something new about my bike everytime I log on. I never knew that the Softails and Dynas had different engine styles (balanced on ST and rubber mounted on Dynas, oil sump location). I thought all of the big twins had the exact same stuff.

I love all three. Sportsters are a real fun ride through the mountains and my Deuce is sporty, fast and comfortable. I have never had the pleasure of riding a Dyna, but the new Wide Glide gives me a hard-on. I've always had a thing for the Superglide too.
