Default 03-05 Harley some of the best?

I bought a 2003 Lowrider garage queen with only 1500mi on it. I get a lot of coments that 03-05 harleys are some of the best built. Is this true? Why are people saying this? I think most of the twin cam bikes have been great bikes. Even the Evo's are good bikes. Why 03-05.

Probably a lot of the people telling you that happen to own one from that time period.
You can make a case of pros and cons for just about any year.

Thats what I though. They've had bunch of cam tensioner problems. Among other things. I was just wondering Because some one said it to me again last night. It stuck me as an odd thing for people to say.

I've got an 02 FXD and 05 FXDLI. The cam chain tension shoes were designed into the TC88 engine as mandated by EPA to reduce noise in that area of the engine. Could they have been made from a more durable material, yes. You are many miles away from worrying about them. Hope you got a good deal on the bike it's hardly broke in. Welcome to the Dyna family.

I've as much into my '01 as a current CVO would cost, so it wasn't bought as a "bargain" but as something to modify extensively...my year of choice was '02, with '01 or '00 as second choice...'02 was the last year of the timken bearing on the drive side of the crank and the '06's and later are EFI, which I didn't want to include in MY modification plans. The '06's also gained quite a bit of weight ("stiffer" frame, 49mm front end) and in my book more weight is never a handling advantage...they're all good with their individual quirks; it just depends on what YOU want from YOUR machine.....
