As For Night Riding...Are Ya SKEERT???
Last night I was talking to a buddy of mine and I asked him why he didn't get a bike to ride to work. He replied "Shhheeeeet, I've seen way to many critters coming home at night to wanna ride a bike to work!" It reminded me that when I bought my last bike the seller wanted me to pick it up during the day so I wouldn't have to ride it home in the dark. I find this a bit surprising as I LOVE riding at night, especially on a clear warm one under a star filled sky. The way I see it is that in 35 years of driving/riding, I have had only a couple encounters with raccoon sized animals and one dog, granted all while driving in a cage, but rather rare nonetheless (the dog bought the farm in the daytime). To me, the risk is far greater from cagers in the daytime for whatever reason, than the risk from nocturnal creatures. The visibility playground is level at night with regard to cagers. I refuse to curtail my driving schedule or time on the bike due to the minute risk of and encounter with things that go bump in the night. Of course, I also like to ride my 4 wheeler across the pasture in the rain, and occasionally run with scissors for no particular reason So...do YOU ride at night or are ya.................prudent?

Don't usually ride that much at night. Last week hit a deer with my work van. I was going to a job at 4:00 am. If I was on the SG it wouldn't be a pretty picture.

Doesn't scare me to ride at night. I'm a little more cautious between mid October and Late December due to the Deer rut here, had plenty of close calls, but won't keep me from riding.

I'm with you TexasCowGrower, I ride whenever and wherever I want to. Ride every day to work, and I work shiftwork so I'm going in and home at all different times. I love riding at night, day, dusk, whenever. Sure, I try to adapt to the time of day and pay particular attention to what dangers each possess, but I don't adjust my riding schedule because of mere lack of sunlight.
