10 injured in motorcycle pile up
Here is a good reason why some of us don't ride in groups and all the more reason those that do should be paying close attention to what's going on up ahead of them.

wow...all I can say is wow. I just hope most of them are alright..I know it said some had died. They must have been riding side by side...all I can think of. We can't ride side by side in our state...staggered only. Not sure that would have helped either though at that speed.

Had that happen here last week, a group of 5 sportbikes doing 90 mph through town, hit a sharp curve and one bike coudln't make it , kicked out and took the rest down. 5 guys and 2 girls. none were wearing helmets, and 3 have died so far. The guy that caused it was uninjured and ran away leaving his bike and friends to suffer. What a sorry SOB.

We always ride in staggered formation at least 2 seconds from the bike in front of you. Even then you still have to look out for yourself, you cannot presume on the bikes in front of you. We've always have to drive to our ability and defensively.

Last group ride I was on scared me enough that I haven't been on one since. Riders riding parallel and most of the riders riding on the preceeding bikes bumper like it was some kind of contest to see how close you could get without hitting the rear tire. On a left turn, the inexperienced rider next to me almost forced me into the captain. They're fun when the group knows how to ride. Scarry and dangerous when they don't know how to ride in formation. I will probably ride in one again but I'm going to be WAY in the back of the pack.

We ride ina group of 20 or more bikes. Never had a problem. All are experienced and know that distance and speed are cruical. But to run off and leave fellow bikers injured?
My bros would find him and break both legs, so he would never ride again.
