I watch the shoulders for their eyes glowing, and find myself yelling at them. They tend to turn and run when I do.

I fear these things more than sixteen year old girls with cell phones!

I knew a guy in California who hit a deer on his bike, He had major problems getting his leg bone to heal.(& destroyed the bike) Doubt he ever rode again as he had a permanent limp. I have had encounters in my car also but no hits. Another thing to lookout for are Cougers & Bears. Have seen them also crossing the road.

I really hate this time of year. And I have been seeing deer smears on the road in places that I would have never thought to be cautious of them. Over the summer there was one smack dab in the middle of the road at the end of a curve on a Rt. 1 off ramp. Luckily I was in the cage that time. If I was on the bike I might have been eating guardrail.

We need those Jurassic Park electric fences bordering every road. Bzzzzap! Where I like to ride, the trees come right up to the road - I hate that. Other places cut the trees (there're plenty of them) back from the road so the berm is expanded to give a much wider view. Maybe with some reaction time, we'd have a fighting chance.

Glad you made it through unscathed and were able to keep it upright. I had a deer run into me on my last bike and down I went sliding down the highway.

You did a great job. Thats a good reminder to keep both hands on the grips ... Otherwise.

I agree I think the ABS might of made all the difference.

we rode all the way to the north east side of Detroit yesterday for a fallen soldier ride 11/2 / 2 hrs and were were getting back around 7 pm and I saw more Deer last night than ive seen in years.. We had 2 come across in front of us but we were making a hard 90 so I just revved the engine and they hurried along.. I sure wish I had a place to hunt this year ... Im about out of meat and im not gonna hunt with the bike or the cage .
