my 2009 softail did the same thing, now at 4800 miles it uses none or very little, as mentioned before, wait till after the 5k service and see if it quit using oil before id worry.

Uhhhh, mine "LEAK" mo' than that !!!!

They're "territorial" bastuds, and 'mark' their territory, readily, consistently, and repeatedly !!!!

BUT, as posted, wait til after the 5000 "hick up", then start "getting concernt". (Mine are ALL over that 5000, mark !!! )

 

Not a drop for me in 5k-7k miles???? I know it's a Softail and mine is an Electra Glide but that should not make a diff. right? Motors is a motor right? I would be concerned?

 

So are you saying your bike used oil before the 5000k miles then stopped ??
