take card sound road. it will cut you around a lot of construction and you can stop for lunch at alabama jacks. captn tonys is the original hogs breath saloon and the oldest bar in key west. go to the flying monkey for frozen drinks that will blow you away, and it is also right on duval street (main street) if your a sports fan there is a pub called the rum barrel that is owned by pat croce, a philly boy, used to own part of the sixers. they have great steak sandwiches. i love key west. if i dint have to work for a living i'd live there.

it's only 150 miles or so to key west from my house, i can make it a day trip, turn around and go home. problem is traffic. US1 is only one lane each way for a lot of the trip and it can get real slow, plus theres a ton of construction right now. also depending on when you go down there a lot of the businesses can be closed. JTM when are you going. there is a poker run this weekend the 17th to the 20th. if you dont have rooms yet good luck

Stop at Knight's Key (just North of Marathon, I think) for the tour of Pigeon Key. Tours sell out of an old train car on the side of the road. Pigeon Key is about a five acre island that is somewhat in the condition it was in when used as living quarters for the men and families that built the original Keys railroad. Good history lesson if you like that sort of thing. Personally I think Key West itself is way overpriced and way over rated but you need to see that for yourself.

LOL the Duvall crawl you got that right. I was there almost two weeks and i don't think i went to bed most morinings till around 4am or 5am and when we got up early in the mornings to go deep sea fishing duvall st is like a ghost town until everyone regains life and crawls out of bed around noon.

GOt to try some of their KEY LIME pie there, but not as easy to find as I thought it would be. And if ya want to find out a bit about the place and history, take one of those tour guide bus things. Only about a hour of your time but was worth it.
