I just camp at National Parks and Forests. Usually between $12-$20 per day. I have the America the Beautiful Pass and it's only $85 for the year. Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon alone are $25 each to get in and there are camp fees on top of that.

America the Beautiful pass is the best deal for anyone who camps a lot on the bike as I do.

I don't go to many state parks.

I looked at the page you cited and don't see where it says the annual fee is in addition to the daily rate. It reads to me like it's $8 - $10 a day OR you can buy a 365 day permit for $225

Yes, you're mistaken. They _OFFER_ a $225 yearly pass to camp.

Texas has a similar program where you can buy an annual parks pass for $60 for however many people you can fit in a non-commercial vehicle. This pass is used in lieu of the daily fees at park entrances.

LOL, you may be right! That would explain it. What a moron! I swear, I thought that it meant you had to buy a permit to camp and then pay per night.

My Wisconsin experience is what had me believing otherwise. I was on a tight budget and when I got there and had to buy a permit just to enter the park on top of my nightly use fee I was pretty upset.

My apologies to everyone here.
