Question Exhaust leak problem with slip on's

Hey guys, I have an exhaust leak on my slip on's. My friend noticed it today and we tightened the rings that hold the slip on's in place, and while it's much better now there is still a minor leak.

The bike a 2009 Night Rod Special and the exhaust is Supertrapp Fat Shot's slip on's.

It seems pretty poorly made in my opinion and the O rings that hold the exhaust in place to the head pipe don't seal everything properly.

What's a good fix for this? Any suggestions?

I've had success using Permatex Ultra Copper high-temp silicone. You can find it at Auto Zone.

Hmm I see, so what is the strategy with application? Do you just smudge a bunch onto the header pipe and slip the slip on over it and hope it's sealed?

There's no real trick to it. With my Rush slip-ons, I applied a small bead on the inside of the mufflers, about an 1'' back. Unless you have a significant leak I wouldn't use a lot. Be sure and let it setup for about 24 hours before firing it up.
