I think the best way to insure that it is broke in correctly is to bring over to my house and let me ride it for about a year. I promise I will break it in for you.

Truly though look in the owners manual should be something in there about it.

I have Harley envy.... Your a very fortunate man.

Here's the steps:

1. Baby it for 500 miles.
2. Swap oil.
3. Ride it like you stole it.

Your owners manual has the correct way to break it in, after all they built your bike & should know.

Book says not to lug the engine and not to go above a certain speed for so many miles. They didn't give you a manual or break in instructions?

Best way I've always heard to seat the rings and break it in is to find a long stretch of road and go from 30 to 60 to 30 in 3rd gear 10 times. After this the rings will be seated properly.

This is what I did: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
Runs hard and strong but I did dump the oil and filter at 250 miles.

This is the way I broke in my 09 Ultra. Put it in third gear accelerate at 3/4 throttle to 60 mph then close the throttle and let the engine brake the speed to 30 and repeat. Did this for the first 50 miles. After that I still varied the speed till I had 300 miles in it. If you do a search there is a detailed web site on breaking in a new engine.

I work with an engineer who use to drive motor homes from the factory to the dealer. Said they had to drive at a constant speed to get back to the dealer in the alloted time. Said every one of the engines burned oil becuase the rings never got seated by driving at one speed the first 300 miles.

+1...for this method. Just make sure to change the oil and filter between 100 and 250 miles.
