I have a 2006 dyna wide glide with 12k miles on it. I still owe some money, but i'm not worried about the money. The primary bearing is bad, and it looks like i'll have to replace it every 15k anyway. It's going to run me a few bucks to change that and then do the 15k service at the same time... a buddy of mine just suggested trading and getting a new bike, since there's no permanent fix.

You should do a search in the Dyna section, lots of Dyna owners have had the inner primary bearing fail. The cause is a misalignment, bearing isn't centered over the shaft. The latest fix is to swap out the inner primary cover and transmission case to a later model that has dowel pins to align them together. Other option would be to make a sleeve to center the bearing then bolt down the cover, that should eliminate any future failures. In any case Harley Davidson has been covering this even out of warranty.
