Question Speedo issue 05 FLHT

Having an issue with my speedo...When at a stop the needle jumps sometimes from 0 - whatever sometimes, yesterday while on a 200 mile ride it would read my correct speed than slowly dwindle down to 40, 30 and all around and when almost home went to 20...I stopped for fuel and it was good for a mile or so and it looked like it was totally going to quit....I have been told it could be some sensor that sometimes needs to be either cleaned or replaced, does anyone have an idea on what this could be??

The speedo is on an 05 FLHT.....And turn signals do not affect the speedo...Thanks for any input that anyone might have

Thanks Dawg..... I was kinda hoping it was just that, didn't want to have to pull off the batwing for it.....I will do just that but maybe before I pull it to clean it I will get a new O-ring just to make sure I have a good seal, and put a lil silicone from my dive gear stuff that goes on O-rings..........Thanks again.......
