Question Please help identify found H-D Bolt in driveway

Today my wife found a bolt in our driveway. It is a 3 inch long hex head bolt.
It was stamp H-D Grade A. It had residue of white locktight on it.

Yesterday several friends were over and we all went on a 200 mile ride. None of them came back to my house after the ride so I know it had to come out prior to the ride. Possible bikes that lost it is Ultra Classics 06, 07 & 08's. Heritage 07, Softail Custom-08, Road King-07 or 8.

I have contacted them all and everyone says not them. I know it has to be somebodys.

Any ideas would be great.

what is the diameter? The only thing I can think of is a primary cover bolt, or if it is thick, maybe a caliper bolt. As the rear ones are famous for comming loose.

It sure does. I have recently put passenger boards on, and that fits the bill.

it is a big bolt. I ran it past my local dealers home. We are friends and he is a mechanic will she owns the dealership. He looked my wife's and my bikes over and couldn't find anything missing. But he too wasn't sure what it could be off of. Surely what ever it held would be coming off or oil or something would be leaking. Tomorrow I am going over both bikes from one end to the other and make sure it is not our bikes. Thanks for the help.

I occasionally throw a bolt, nut or something similar in my buddy's driveway to drive him nuts. Just to keep him guessing, sometimes I'll drip a drop or two of oil under one of his vehicles...LOL...Chasing ghosts gives him something to do.
