Default Stung 5x this week while riding...it sucks

Last wednesday I was banging through the gears to about 70mph and then whack...a wasp or a hornet hit's me right below the glasses. The thing got me three times as I tried to swat him off my face. Needless to say the swelling was there for 4 days, then I get one on the back last Sunday, and then one gets me on the neck last night as I was riding home. I hadn't been stung in almost 20 years then bang. I hate these little fuggers! Is it me, or are they wasps worse this year than others?

I wont ride without a windshield for all of the bugs here in Tennessee.Getting stung while riding is not real high up there on the fun list for me.As well as a mouth full of bugs.So if you are going to Bang the Gears ..use protection..

You know, I was just thinking of posting about this very thing.

Been riding for years but THIS year, I've been stung on 3 separate occasions-- on the cheek on the belly and then the crotch!! Boy did that last time **** me off!! I was riding by the golf course and BAM! I was kicking my leg out back and forth, doing 45 by the 9th tee... they must of thought I was crazy!

But it seems to me those little bastards are either more numerous or know where I ride!!!

Yea...know what you mean. My first time out on a bike ever....I took one to the lip. Saw the bee and just couldnt move my head in time. After that I bought a removable windshield and unless its hot out I use my 3/4 face helmet with the face shield. Love to ride, just hate being stung.

a full windshield sounds so appealing now huh? +1 with the helmet face shield combination. One reason I wear a helmet on the highway.

I have a full face shield but only wear it when the weather sucks or if I'm going out to beat on the bike on a mountain twisty. It's not like I'm riding a bike without a shield either as I ride a Streetglide with a 6.5" KW. I saw the one that hit me below the glasses last week and it looked like a rock coming at me. When it hit me it stung me right away. I tried swatting it off and I felt it some more and I swear the little bastard had his stinger in me as he was spinning around.

It swole up the next day and got much worse by Friday. I was popping Benadryl tablets 2at a time over 3 days before the swelling started to recede on Sunday. When my face started getting close to normal you could see three sting marks where the little bugger got me, and no...it's no exageration. The one on the back wasn't too bad but the one that got me last night has the left side of me neck swollen up. I think he was on me when I started off from the gas bar as he got me right along the helmut strap and I don't recall hitting one. Just cruising along and he let me have it. Might have been crawling on me or my helmut and got me under the neck strap. Helmut was not a factor on this one. I'll post a couple pics for the skeptics later.

Hee hee SKEPTICS?
I've been real lucky so far with no stings.
Had a lot of em in my glasses and goggles and shirts and so on.
I've been stung, but not while riding. If my luck holds out . . . . .
Nothing like looking through bug gut colored glasses.
Three stings: I'm raising my beer to ya.
Jon
