Riders down near Maggie Valley

My condolences to Smith family and Get well wishes to those ladies in the vehicle. Things happen for reasons we will never know why or what. Just be careful on the motorcycles we love to enjoy and ride.
Peace,
Thorey

I was up there for 4 days this past weekend and i saw a lot of riders over doing it...Rode many roads in the wet also and never over rode...had a blast...Discovered a lot of back roads that i never saw before...just took a turn and looked at the GPS...like i said i saw a lot of potential wrecks but avoided them... I just got back from there also. It's so beautiful there that it is hard to keep your eyes on the road but when you are in unfamiliar territory you do have to leave the looking to the pillion. Sad very sad.... may they both RIP.

to ride the smokies,it takes special attention to traveling these roads.tourists will stop anywhere at any given time.i got half way around a curve and all of the traffic in front of me had stopped.half way around the curve and there they were stopped.cost me 11 broken bones and minor injuries to my wife.yup,i was under the speed limit.

Many people don't realise that the roads around the BRP are fairly well worn out. There used not only for tourist but by many locals going to and fro.
Some roads transport a lot of coal leaving coal dust and oil all over the road. Many motor homes blowing trans fluid.
Add a little speed to the equation and it reeks of disaster.
We all have done thoughtless things at one time or another and have escaped the consequences. It's called "Luck" or "Fate". Sometimes we can push both to far.
I hope this very unfortunate accident will save many countless lives.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of these fellow bikers.

That is very sad to hear.
I have been on that highway three times this year and with road conditions and traffic cannot imagine seeing 65 MPH. Speed Kills
