I keep hearing the the new bikes have a cat on the front pipe only...whats up with that?
You would think they would have one on each pipe. How does the system work with just one?


Fortunately I don't have one on mine so it is not a problem.

 

On 06 Touring bikes its in the right side muffler not the pipe. With the factory rear Y pipe something like 70% of the exhaust from the rear cylinder exits the right side muffler also.

 

Must be enough gas going through one muffler to meet the emission standards.

 

Branded has the right idea. The crossover pipe makes it work.

 

Only the Touring bikes come with them from the factory. However, if you do a Stage II big bore kit, it also includes two mufflers but only one has the catalyst. Mine are back in their boxes. The crossover pipe balances out the exhaust flow.
