Helmet bubblehead....
I know this has been brought up before but I have been searching for a half helmet that has a fitted low profile look. Do they exist? I presently have one of Harleys standard half helmets which is way to wide, but seems to be of the norm for helmets. Im a fairly new rider, and these helmets make me feel uncomfortable. Maybe its just me, but does anyone else feel the same. I follow this forum and the information here is very helpful to all new riders.

You might get any number of responses about different helmets, but I've decided that all DOT helmets make you look like you're wearing a helmet. I wear a Daytona half (it's way better than my HD half) because it is really light, but I still look like the Great Gazoo.

There has to be enough impact absorbing material inside the helmet to protect your head in event of a crash. That's going to make the helmet shell quite a bit larger than your head. If the helmet shell fits really close to your head then there it is not going to offer much protection and will probably not meet DOT or Snell standards.

There are a lot of vintage half helmets from the 60s on ebay that are very low profile. I have a Captain America helmet that was made in 1967. It is my most comfortable helment. I just don't know how well it will protect me though.

I have a Headtrip DOT carbon fiber skull cap helmet made by Advanced Carbon Composites Inc. I bought it from BikersDen.com It is the smallest DOT helmet I have come across.

This was posted the other day and some one said check out ACC helments. Thier website say they ahve DOT helments and they don't have the mushroom look. I currently ride with a Carbon helment but my next one will probaably be an ACC>

Seems to me if you put the padding on the outside, the shell could be really close to your head and it would feel better.
