Default Music while riding? Is it a riding sin? Trying to break down the wind noise.

How many of you listen to music while riding using earphones? Is there a brand of earphone I can use that allows for me to hear both the music and the world around me?

Just to clarify, I am using a small brain bucket atm, with no plans of going back to a 1/2 or full face cap anytime soon. Perhaps deserving of another thread, the biggest problem is the wind noise through the straps. Blvd cruising is NP, but anything over 45mph the noise is just bothersome. I have heard some guys using plugs on the freeway. Are there any other alternatives for this? Right now my best solution is to put on my windshield. I love the wind, its why I bought a bike and dont want to run from it, just to get it out of my ears.

Love to hear from your experience.

I tried using an ipod shuffle during my ride to sturgis and it didn't work too well. at high speeds, the music is unrecognizable even at the loudest setting, then, when you slow down or stop, it's blarring in your ear and you can't hear anything else, including your buddies trying to tell you something. so it requires alot of handling which of course is not a good thing when your riding anything, much less a bike. I think the only way to listen safely to music while riding is with the fairing installed radios. otherwise, it's just another niusance and distraction.

I can use them on my Ultra, but hardly ever do it. I have the quad speaker set up, and can hear it great at around 75 mph just from the speakers. Sorry, I know I didn't help you any.

Get some Skull Candy ear buds. I have the Inkd Smokin Buds from them and I can hear my Creative MP3 player at less than full volume doing 70mph with no windshield, skid lid and loud Short Shot pipes. They do tend to block out most all other noises but then at 70mph with no ear buds in I can't hear hardly anything over the wind anyways.

For me riding is my time away from the world. In 40 years of riding I've never listened to music while on the bike. I've found that being one with my thoughts is good zen therapy. And in today's world we are constantly bombarded with information and media. Separating myself from it whenever possible is a welcomed change of pace. To each his own though.

I have a pair of rubber ear buds with different size end pieces to fit different size ears. They block out almost all the wind and can hear them pretty good at 70. They also have an inline volume control so I just hook it on my belt loop and turn it down when stopped. I usually only listen to music on rides longer than 2 hours. Not quite sure how legal it is though. Anyone??
Correction--Completely illegel in the state of Maryland on bikes and in cages.

noise canceling ear buds....they block all outside noise while allowing you to listen to your mp3 player of choice....

Here is my latest setup for this. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/general-harley-davidson-chat/393894-mounting-bluetooth-sereo-speakers-in-a-fulmer-3-4-helmet.html

I had the same problem as you at high speeds on the highway with ear buds. After a certain point it's just noise. I have some shure earbuds for the half helmet.
