Default one pipe more black inside than other..why???

I have two bikes, and notice on both (which only have the stage 1 download by dealer) that the right or front pipe is blacker inside than the other...both bikes are low miles....why is this..does it matter, and how or can you correct this without a tuner?

Usually the front cylinder runs cooler than the rear cylinder because it is in the direct airstream. That affects the mixture in the front cylinder. This will cause the discoloration in the pipe that you describe. It's no big deal, it's just the way they are.

+1. We have a winner. My question is why are you looking up the pipes?

it does not matter. this is the result of the flow characteristics of the exhaust system. keep in mind you are riding a 100 year old air cooled piece of technology.

If you are talking about an EG exhaust system where there is a Y pipe on the rear cyclinder. The front and rear exhaust pipes come straight out of the head. The Y pipe on the rear head has to make an almost 90 degree turn for the exhaust to exit. Therefore most exhaust comes out the right side. And that is why the right muffler is darker than the left.

Old 96, that makes sense! so whether you have a tuner or just the computer download you will get the same results on your pipe then...correct????
