Default Scared of used bike w/ 26K miles?

The girlie has her eye on a used Deluxe. 2005, blue / white, very clean, stock other than the seat. It has 26K miles on the odo. Given that you see used bikes all the time with 5K or less, should this concern her?

On one hand its a buncha miles. On the other hand, riders that put that many miles on a bike typically take care of them. Its a few thousand below KBB value.

There a private seller with almost the exact same bike with 2600 miles on it, but he's $2000 higher.

Any opinions?

26k is nothing if the bike has been well maintained. I'd ask for paperwork showing what maint has been done and if it looks good, and you can get it for a good price, I'd get it.

KBB numbers aren't very reliable IMO and tend to be on the high side.

add another thousand to upgrade to a gear drive cam. My cam shoe tensioners were trash at 26000 miles.

lol ... my 3 year old SUV has 15,000 miles on it. My wife's 2 year old 2 seater convertable has 4,000 miles on it.

I bought my bike (below) so I can get rid of one of the cars. The SUV in the background is going in two weeks.

More than 26K on the 07 Road King and not a bit of problems. Check for service records and look over bike carefully. i would go for it if you are comfortable with it!

Most of the guys that I ride with have have way over 20K miles. Two have 70 to 80K and one even has 275k miles.

Mine is an 08 model and I already have 16K.

It is just a number. Either the bike has been properly cared for and will run for years to come or it hasn't.

Look at the overall condition and the price and if you like it don't worry about the miles it has on it and concentrate on how many you are going to put on it!
