I'd rather have the carbed bike, people say EFI is reliable, but when your ECM $hits the bed in the middle of nowhere, the middle of nowhere is where your going to stay.

If you have a problem with a carb, the bike will run crappy, but it will at least run.

That being said, my last two bikes both have had EFI, and it definately has its advantages, and I've never had a failure, but I have friends who have had fuel pump, ECM, injector / sensor problems. Most of these are dealer repairs. So EFI scares me a little.... even though thats what I have.

There are different schools of thoughts on how to properly warm up a bike. I was raised old school and taught that you have to let a lady warm up her throat before you expect her to sing the blues. I warm up my Evo the same as my Twin Cam. Fire it up and wait till the heads are too warm to touch. Just my way. Others do it different. I have seen lots of people fire em up and ride off. I don't think that stresses an engine but I have seen fools fire them up and hammer them leaving out with a cold engines that were fuel injected. Seen those fellows on the side of the road scratching their heads wondering what is different with their engines now. Warm up and ride off ability would not convince me to buy or not buy fuel injection.

I was rasied old school also but I leave at 5 am every morning, don't want to raise too much hell warming her up. I just putt putt out of my neighborhood. By the time I use any type of RPM she is heated.

For me, my 10 year old carburated bike has the greatest value, as I have too many friends who have had issues with their EFI bikes. I live at sea level but have had no problems at all at altitudes above 9,000 feet when riding in the Sierra's. Like other carb fans have stated, too many electronic controls on the newer EFI bikes for me to be comfortable with them.

EFI would cost more. its more reliable, more efficient and has more potential.

Thanks everybody...I know this "hypothetical" is b.s., but it makes for good mental gymnastics!

Tough call.
I say they are of equal value.
The older the bike and I would say the EFI would be of slightly less value due to the possible cost of repairs. JMHO.

They are going to start to go away and a lot of us still like them.
