High temp BBQ paint
Has anyone tryed to paint there heat shields and mufflers yet with high temp BBQ paint ? If so how did it work and how is it holding up?

Works great that's what I used on mine! use a few coats. and scuff the chrome if your going to paint it. without scuffing no paint will hold.

What did you use to scuff them up ? Any name brand paint?

i use a medium grit sandpaper. the paint came from ace but i have used many brands of high temp paints and they all seem to work fine. just make sure you get the most heat resistant stuff your can find.

I found that Krylon BBQ & Stove works awesome-painted the pipes and almost the whole motor.

I'd check a auto parts store for some header paint. I have VHT I think it is. it say's it's good to 1400 deg. I think it is a ceramic base.
The scotch brite pads work real good for scuffing chrome.

I repaint mine every couple months.
Mine did come black but I use the BBQ paint when they start looking bad.

Used the Scotch-Brite and Ace BBQ paint...looks good but knicks easily. They tell you to cure that stuff in like a 500 degree oven for 2 hours. No household oven goes over 450...so I left them in there for 4 hours. Never did cure completely. Had a really nice flat finish, but would come off easily.

My pipes are painted with Rustoleum BBQ paint. Look at sig pic.
