Me too. ook the VIN sticker off. The VIN is stamped on the frame so the sticker is not required.
It's not against the law to take the tag off a mattress. It's against the law for anyone but the CONSUMER to take off the tag. Says so right on the tag.

I was just about to apply to the Mattress Police Academy.
Just hope you never need to plate the bike in another state now. At least here in NM they require 2 VINs to transfer plates or you have to get the police to verify that it is acceptable that there is only one or issue a NM VIN sticker.
Is the VIN not stamped anywhere else on the frame?
How bout the motor? Isn't the VIN on the motor, or at least a partial? I wonder if that counts, not that it really matters to me around here, just thinking out loud...
When you sell an "old" scoot, lotsa peeps WANT the 'original' stickers on there. Sorta like "all numbers match" thangy.

Believe it or not, they take that stuff seriously up here in the great frozen north (AKA Canada). They can deny you registration and plates if they're not in place. Lotsa guys do it, but there is a risk when it comes time to renew plates or sell
