America's 9 / 11 Ride

Mav, great summary on the trip to fill in those who had no idea as to this ride. my first year and loved it, even with the rain. Got back to Altoona last this afternoon. Bad luck this morning before the Ground Zero visit. We went down to get our bikes and my one friend had a rear flat, got it handled in time and got into Zero on the second batch. But had to stop about every 20 to 50 miles on the way home to pump up the tire. But, could have been much worse.
To those wanting a great, emotional ride, come along next year. The organizers are hiring a proffessional PR firm soon, so sure more info on this ride will circulate for next years ride. For and idea as to cost, for fuel, eats, sharing a double room and the 100 dollar reg fee, had about 5 to 6 hundred bucks wrapped up. FYI. Hope to see more next year.

Thank you Chief.. and I'm sorry I forgot to mention your guys. Truth is, all along 130 up into Linden.. it was a repeat of I 95. And like I said, it was way beyond impressive.. out best to you, and your station.
Code, sorry about the flat but thanks. It was our first year too and I'm sure we'll be goin' out again. Next year maybe we can look each other up.. have a beer or whatever. Anyway, glad you and your guys all got home ok
And for anyone else interested.. here's the main web addy http://www.americas911foundation.org/ info on the ride is linked from here
Cheers

Great cause
I was in the old federal reserve 3 blocks from tower one that day and witnessed the planes as they hit. While walking down fulton the first tower came down. I would love to do this ride someday it might clear things up for me. I was a 15 year Fire Fighter and had several friends perish in the towers that day, 2 of whom were brothers and sons of my mentor Capt. John Vigiano Sr. of Rescue 2 FDNY.
Stay safe and never forget.

Did this ride in 07. http://americas911ride.org/ is based in the town I live in, and had an escorted ride start from here to Gettysburg, then on to Somerset. What a fantastic ride/organization. There is a lot of riding involved, but even a group this size is managed quite well.
Yes indeed. You went right through the town I live in and the 'base' of the organization. The word gets out pretty good and the sidewalk support is unreal. I did Sturgis this year, but would like to do the 911ride next year again.
Here was 1 pic I had on photobucket.
On the way from Somerset to Arlington, we rode through several small towns and it was pouring.. and yet, on every block and almost every porch, people were there.. standing in the rain, waving American flags.. cheering..

Here's a few more from 07
This is my dad and brother in front of me turning on the road the memorial is on
This is how you make a rest stop/potty break with a group this size
The town I live in and a town the route goes right through.
Enough said...
