Here's what you need for the thumb wheel to make it simple to use. Engages & disengages in 1/3 of a turn.

How do you rate the product? Any feedback appreciated.
It looks simple and effective.

I may have to give it a try.

Thanks,

Cheers,

Tom

I have it on my 06 & it is great so I ordered one for my 09 & I can't get it to fully disengage so the throttle has a little play in it. I wrote the company about 6 months ago & they said it should work like my 06. It doesn't so a few weeks ago I was at a dealer & asked the service tech about it & he told me something had changed in the 09's even though all part numbers are the same. I just wrote to the mfg again to see if they had any other complaints. Maybe the thumb wheel shoe on the 09's are thinner or something. I really want to get it to work as it is soooo easy on the 06. I'll update here when I get an answer.

There are 2 other devices that do the same thing but you have to tap a new thread in the existing hole. Also the cost 120.00 & up.

And I can send you pictures of 8 Harleys with the thumb screw engaged that have never been wrecked. And been riding for 30+ years using this set up style. Don't go there.

Secret is to not lock it all the way down, just enough friction to stop the throttle from returning (dead man throttle is a throttle with the return spring removed - old school).

Didn't want an arguement, just wnted to know if anyone has done this, and what they did to make the thumb wheel longer, so I guess I'll be the first.

I have the thumbscrew cruise on my '96 Electra Glide. I like it except where there is alot of hills. I learned that the trick for me is not to tighten it too much so I can still twist the throttle up or down without too much effort or having to keep adjusting it.

On a wide open road throttle lock is a nice little item to give your hand a break for a minute. I set it so it just barely holds the throttle in place. You can still roll the throttle forward if you need to with it engaged if necessary.
