Looking for very thin leather gloves
Hello Folks,
I've posted this quetion elsewhere and gotten very few real replies. So I thought I would try here.
For a long time, I've been looking for some leather gloves that really are like "second skin." Tight, thin, high quality leather. I like gloves, as I hate the feeling of a beetle hitting my hand at 60 mph, and I enjoy the feel of protection and comfort. I even wear them in the summer with a sleeveless T as my shirt. Doesn't cost much in terms of comfort, and adds a strong measure of safety. Plus it looks cool.
But I dislike the clumsy, fumbling, thick gloves that one always finds in motorcycling circles. I want real, thin, tight, high quality leather gloves.
I've tried a couple of the police gloves (Rothco, for examp). They were an improvement, but not what I'm looking for.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
M

I've got a pair of Icon perforated leather gloves, fit like a second skin, short in the wrist, velcro closure. They have armor knuckle caps, but are VERY close fitting and comfortable. Mine are just about worn out, but they've been great. I like very thin gloves for summer riding too; I use the "dime test"; put them on, and put a dime on the table. If you can pick it up with the gloves on, they're just about right. the Icons passed with flying colors.
I also have a pair of gloves that I had made a few years ago by a leathersmith...really, really nice gloves, but about three times the price. I don't wear them for riding...I'd hate to ruin them.

Another vote for Fox Creek.
But there are some composite gloves that may be even better. Check out a pair of Oakley shooting gloves. Extremely awesome gloves, whether shooting or riding.
Or both, simultaneously.

Go to your local welding supply store & ask to see a pair of TIG welding gloves. They will probably be made from kid (goat) skin. T.I.G. gloves are made to maintain exceptional dexterity. They should also be fairly inexpensive. If they don't have a color you like...get some leather dye.

Why do they have to be leather ? I have some Tour Sport gloves that I also use for kart racing because of the great feel ( they fit me just right ). But I got some HD nylon ( I think ) mesh gloves as a gift and I haven't used my thin leather gloves at all in warm weather since I got the mesh gloves.
