Love my Captain Itch Crotch Coolers!
A friend and I ordered ourselves one of Captain Itch's Crotch Coolers after a brutally hot ride up to the OKC HOG Rally followed with some riding around Dallas in 100+ degree heat. Even though the pipes on my 09 have been re-routed for better heat management, at times, I was feeling like my thighs were on fire.
We just got back from a trip to Sturgis from Santa Fe and put about 2300 miles on the bikes. I definitely noticed the LACK of heat when sitting in traffic, at lights, stuck behind construction, etc. So, in case any of you are considering one, I can attest to how well they work.
It was very easy to install on my 09 RKC. My friend rides an 03 Fatboy with a TON of electrical wiring under the seat, which makes it a pain getting her seat to sit properly, so she had to modify the slot on her crotch cooler to get it to sit right. Easy enough though.
Anyway, wanted to give a thumbs up to a Forum Sponsor.

It's 2 pieces of leather sewn together. It's pretty thick...about 1/8"? It was relatively stiff at first, but I definitely noticed it softening up and hanging down better as the trip progressed...guess it needed to break in and soften up sorta like a good pair of leather shoes/boots or a jacket.
I'm not sure what you're asking, but it looks sorta like a saddle blanket, with an opening in the middle. You remove your seat and slide it on the seat tongue at the base of the gas tank. The seat slides back on and it holds it in place. I had no issues w/ my RKC, but Kim had a harder time with her Fatboy. Her Ultimate Seat is a real beotch to get on even w/o the Crotch Cooler though. There is also a piece of metal (between the 2 pieces of leather) around the opening/slit where it slides onto the seat receiver tongue...for reinforcement I suppose. My friend found that out when she went to cut hers to open up the slit a bit more. They seem really well made.
Again, I was real pleased with what a difference I felt, or should I say, didn't feel, from the heat coming off my pipes.
Oh yeah, as a precaution, I applied some clear 3M tank guard tape where the leather came in contact with my fuse box cover as I was concerned it'd eventually scar up the clearcoat. On the Fatboy, this wasn't an issue since there are no painted surfaces coming in contact with the leather.
Hope that answers some of your questions.

Thanks Mary. My wife wants something for her Deluxe. These may do the trick.
Oh and I noticed in some of your pics you put a fairing on your RK. Looks good.

They have a version now, that has the basket weave, which would match the deluxe. I contacted them a while ago regarding one with a fringe. But still waiting to hear back. guess there still busy.

And, thanks for the compliments on the fairing. LOVE having it, although I like the looks of the bike better w/o it. I'm guessing I'll rarely take it off though. I picked it up used...sorta fell into my lap. It's a DeadCenter, which is what I'd decided on b4 I found this one ($850!!!)
Had it painted right before the Sturgis trip...sad thing is, the painter did a REAL crappy job...orange peel, trash in paint, pin-striping is awful, didn't primer...I could go on, but the biggest issue I had/have with it is the guy did not follow the explicit instructions on how I wanted it painted. This, after showing him 3 photos and my brother's fairing! I didn't want the standard paint job since I didn't want so much antique white. Paid him for materials only and will have it re-done by someone else. Oh well...it worked fine & only I know the "issues". It sure was nice on the trip...really seemed to help with wind and absolutely LOVE having music!!! Put the KlockWerks shield on in Sturgis...really like that too.
