Worse damage than I had thought, Jeff. WOW!!!
In those photos above, with the guy holding the HUGE hailstone. That pic
was taken 2 HOURS AFTER it hailed.
There were reports and pics online, of the hail actually tearing holes, right
thru fenders of cars and trucks.
For those who poo-poo the weather, It's not nice to "F" with
Mother Nature.
One of the reasons why peeps got caught so flat footed, it was actually going around the entire area,
but pulled one of those infamous 'hooks' out there, and rolled back around so fast,
not even the weather service could get warnings out in time.
One of the film crews out there, had just pulled into the Full Troddle. It started to hail,
they were so "F"ing skeered and surprised, they didn't even turn on their camera equipment to film it.
Look at it this way, NOW you have something to tell the Grandkids 'bout. "I SurvivedThe Hailstorm of '09".
2 of our friends out that way, lost ALL the windows on the storm side, of BOTH of their houses.
Glen's suffered a lot of INTERIOR wall damage, AFTER the windows got blown in.
Actual holes thru the sheetrock as the hail blew right in.

We luckily were in Hill City when this hit in Sturgis area. So no damage. I heard it put some peeps in the hospital... We did get hail on Saturday in Keystone, but it was only pea size, so no damage. The storms there where crazy this year. Wife and I got introduced to SD t-storms on our way in on tuesday night. Not pleasant!

I missed Sturgis this year. Went fishing in Minnesota instead. When I went to the taxidermist with my daughter's musky to be mounted, The taxidermist told me that had just gotten back from Sturgis and had tons of damage on his Ultra from the hail. I thought he was BSing me until I saw this thread.. Looks like it was one hell of a storm.

Jeez, this sucks guys. We were 40 miles south on Friday going through Custer Park and it was 95 and sunny. When we got back to our cabin on 385, we heard of the hail on the radio and couldn’t believe what we were hearing. Went to Sturgis on Saturday and heard the details of the storm from various venders. Weather in the black hills this year during the rally week pretty much sucked. I think Crazy Horse must have been pissed.

Yo BKSmokey,
I got nailed in 2007 outside of Sturgis. Took a couple to the head (no helmet). Felt like I was getting hit with rocks. Fortunately no bike damage that time. Let us know how it turns out.
