Default How do you find part numbers???

I have been searching the internet all night for an exploded view of my bike with part numbers but have found nothing.

I need a specific internal part for the front forks but don't know what it's part number is. Is there a good website for this??

I can't think of anywhere online that would have an exploded view with part numbers. Repair manuals don't even have that. The only thing I would suggest is to either call harley and ask for the part number for the part you need or try to cross reference it with other parts you find online.

(ex.) say i want a starter, most starters you find online, even aftermarket will give you an HD XXXXX-XX cross reference number, the last 2 X's being the year the part was made. That doesn't necessarily mean the year will be the same year as your bike. A lot of parts numbers are for years prior to your bike year.

Easiest way would be to call HD and ask them for the part number of the part you're looking for.

This is why the Parts book for your bike is a neccesity. it lists every part, with exploded views of all. Its invaluable in finding excatly what you need, without having a dealers parts guy order the wrong part. (This happens often...)

Best money you can spend on your scoot, is the Service Manual, Parts book, and electrical diagnostics book. They take all the guess work out of your repairs.

Doubt you will ever find it online, the parts book is the way to go. Either pick one up from your dealer or stop in and search through theirs. I've never had a dealer deny me access to look through their parts manual.

Parts catalog is the way to go. I got one the same time I bought my service manual. Both come in very handy when doing your own work.

There are several online retailers that have them for metrics, and Ducati has a PDF you can download. It'd be nice to have that for Harley, but nope got to shell out the $$$ for a parts book.
