Default Biker Definitions and Terminology

I read yet another thread where someone installed apes on their bike and viewed the thread to see another set of 10" bars on their bike. With this in mind I decided to start a thread where we can discuss biker terms and definitions. Too many on this forums use terms too liberally such as apes, 1%, RUB, etc. Post some of your opinions here...

Apes are bars that are so high to cause the rider to adopt an ape like posture when riding.

You do realize that Harley calls their 10" bars "mini-apes" right? So a lot of the terminology doesn't even start with riders, but with the makers.

You could call them Mini Bars. But then everyone would want to know how much you charge for a beer?

I think nowadays with the marketing frenzy - language doesn't mean what it used to. The permanence is gone. Apes to me used to be called high bars and they were the same as Schwinn put on their sting ray bicycle. They call lots of things Apes now that don't really fit that look.

Isn't there a sticky post that includes a definition of Ape Hangers.
I believe if the grips aren't above your shoulders, they aren't Apes.
