When would you replace? (rear tire)

21k, and I just installed the 3 lop on 07 Heritage.
Different bikes gets different miles on tire, then how are they ridden, hi-way, backroads, interstate, 2up or solo. All this makes a difference.
I got 10k on 1st one and 11k on second, I've also heard the new 200 on the FB's are not getting as much, so there are many things to consider on how many miles someone gets on a tire.
There are wear bars built in to your tire to let U know when Ur getting down to the end, think its at 2or3/32". Your manual will say.

You guys must be living right. I will be lucky if I make 5500 this time....same tire.

Wear indicators are 2/32 or less. If I was riding 1 up all of the time I might consider going longer but with my lady on the back it becomes a different story. Just put a rear on my lowrider 240.00 total for new dunlop.

Just keep a close and constant eye on it. The rubber seems to really wear off fast at the end. It also seems to be prone to locking up when braking, which really tears off the last little bit right down to the cords. If you do lock the rear up near the end of its life, make sure you check the entire tire for tread depth because the part that saw the road surface when it went into the skid will be worn down quite a bit more than the rest of the tire.
I have found a few custom builders that will change out the tire for $20 if I take the wheels into them. Their prices on the tire are usually comparable to what can be found on the internet too. And I've never gotten the attitude from them that I have at a dealership. In fact, I think each time the owner of the business was the same guy who changed out the tire.
