Texting with one hand AND talking on a cell phone with the other at the same time:

Should have been issued a severe ***-beating on the spot!

As a group, we're not much better. How many times have you seen a picture/movie taken by a guy on his cell phone while riding his bike.

I disagree. As a group, we're much, much better.

The likelihood of a motorcyclist doing anything remotely similar is infinitesimally small, and as a percentage of all motorcyclists as a group - probably almost non-existent (it happens but the number of incidents is relatively minor, and Darwin comes into play).

Motorists/cagers, on the other hand, are much, much worse both in terms of total number of episodes and as a percentage of all motorists.

I'm also a little freaked out that the 68-yr old woman in the story has an 8-yr old niece. Wow.

Take a look at Youtube sometime. There are many examples of guys shooting the scenery while riding. Most seem to be on crotch-rockets.

I agree, natural selection at it's best...

He was probably talking to his wife and texting his girlfriend and got hot and bothered and decided to go for a swim.
