Default Twin cam A vs. B

Maybe a dumb question or maybe not.

Will a Twin cam A from an '06 Road Glide fit in a '99 Heritage Softail????
Blew my motor up on the way to Cape Cod on Sat. morning and I can pick this motor up for short money.

If it fit – wouldn’t it ride like sh*t? No balancing and rigid mounted? Might be better to spend a few more bucks to get one that was made for it.

I wouldn't think so, mounting points are different.

Perhaps you can use some of the parts from the B for your A?

A 99 Softail would have had an Evo. Twin cam 88B wasn't released until 2000. Totally different animals. Your best bet would be to repair the engine you've got, if the cases are intact.

NOPE !!!!!

Jus' a 'thought', Ultima El Bruto. GOOD bang for the buck. There's a thread on 'em, over in EVO Classic, I BELIEVE that's where I saw it.
Folx 'round here, have had WAY good luck with 'em. They did have lifter probs, (their old design), BUT Midwest cust. service has proven to be OUTSTANDING as far as 'honoring' them. Jus' a thought.
IF you have a good, reasonable wrench, you could rebuild what you have. But El Bruto is basically a plug and play. And they are in that $3000 to $4100 range, depending on HOW FAST you wanna go. The 120, is a "square" motor. (Bore and stroke the same) Usually, BUT NOT ALWAYS, a more reliable design. They have come out with a 124" "Touring" motor. Supposedly built for super reliability for tourers. No first hand knowledge of said motor, tho.

If you don't want to rebuild your Evo motor, I would suggest looking at S&S Evo style motors. They are dependable and closely match the HD Evo motor that is in your 99 Heritage.

As others have said, the Twin cam A motor will not fit in your softail frame.
