Default no charging to battery

ok. here is the skinny. 03 rd king. have voltage to the ground and other wire coming off the regulator, (wires located at the battery.) the stator is putting out about 6 volts through the regulator. at idle here is the problem . when i connect the wire to the 50 amp breaker and ground the other wire.then start the bike i only get 11volts. prior to starting, the battery reads 12 v . Its a new battery too. I also changed the breaker out. there is continuity when I check the posts of the breaker. anyone???. thanks m

It is not charging. Check voltage at the stator. Should be about 10-15 Volts AC at idle and ramp up to 60-80 as you rev the motor. If not you need a stator, If that checks, you need a regulator.

stator checks out in volts, continuity and grounding to the case. regulator replaced. know thats working because when engine running . i get 6 volts at idle from both wires coming out of the reg. checked for continuity from the batt cable to the starter and back to the 40 amp breaker. ground is ok. now what???

If you have 10+ volts AC from the stator at idle and only 6 DC from the regulator, sounds like a defective regulator. It is just about the simplest system. 2 wires from stator to regulator. Hot and ground from regulator, hot to battery with a 40 amp breaker in between. If everything is tight with good connections and wiring is in good shape, I'd be rechecking the regulator. When the stator is putting out over 30 volts AC, the battery should be showing well over 13 volts DC.
