Speeding ticket

RE: Speeding ticket
That's Awesome! I got pulled over the other day for passing at an intersection. It was way out in the country he told me why he pulled me over, then he got the book out and actually let me read the statute. It states no passing within 100 feet of an intersection or railroad crossing. He then told me he liked my bike, and said he was giving me a verbal warning since the state did not have no passing stripes on the road.
I thanked him for the legal lesson and was on my way. I think he just wanted a closer look at the bike.
I have rarely had any problems with most LEO's they are still people after all. But it is nice to know they will give you a break like he did you.

Wow, next time you see him offer to buy him a "soda".
I've known a few LEO's and they are usually pretty cool and just doing their job. It's not their fault you were speeding, etc.
I have many more warnings than actual tickets just by being polite to them.
Don't pass on the right shoulder of the road if someone is waiting to turn left, didn't see the sheriff coming the other way and I got a warning for that one.

RE: Speeding ticket
Just read an article in the local newspaper that said my town would be issuing it's own speeding tickets. The reasoning behind this is that the town officers do not like to issue state speeding tickets to residents. Besides the fine, state tickets add points to driving records thus increasing insurance rates. So, the town officers have been issuing a ton of warnings. Now, they can issue a ticket (with a reduced fine) that does not carry points. The town benefits from the fines but the driver does not get an increased insurance bill. I still like the warning system better though. [8D]

Got stopped in Arlington WI (little village) over the Christmas holidays going 40 in a 25 in my truck. Officer was very pleasant, gave me a written warning and a Christmas card from the county. That did more for my attitude than a ticket.
