get a lawyer. most know how to play the game much better than you do. in many cases you will pay the same fine, maybe even a higher one, but will have a lessor charge against you.
i am really surprised at how many say something like 'just pay the fine and get over it'.
many studies have been done stating that you can't drive more than 2 blocks without breaking some law.
i have no problem with the responsibility thing. but find it hard to take first, paying a fine, then paying an increase in insurance and then possibly loosing your license if you have some additional problem.
and everybody speeds at some point, somewhere.
this whole legal thing is a game and not final judgement at the pearly gates. you need to play the game and working the system is part of the game.
as for speed traps, they are situations set up like sting situations. in some municipalities, it is illegal to lower the speed by more than a given mph with in a given distance - like you can't go from 65 to 45 in one block. here in illinois you will see signs saying "45 mph speed limit ahead", notifying you of a change.
overall people drive at a safe speed limit, and some roads are marked at a speed at which a certain percentage of people drive at (residential and school zones not included). however some towns put an arbitrary lower speed limit in these areas so as to be able to get speeders.
in my town, they lowered the speed limit on one road to discourage truckers from taking that route to avoid the toll road. it did cut down on the trucks using the road, but also increased ticketing of autos also.
some 'speed traps' also occur where one might have been driving at a much faster speed like getting off an expressway where the speed limit is 65mph on to a side road where the speed limint is 35mph. people have trouble judging the slower speed and so will go faster than the posted speed.
i have an old noisy rattly mini van and a nwere quieter smoother beemer. 30 in the van is similar to 70 in the beemer so i have to always be careful. i set the cruise even at 30 in the beemer cause it is so easy to speed uncounscioulsy

So if you find out what day court is, you can speed all day because all the Police are off??
I think you understand incorrectly...

Huh?
Cops get subpeonas to appear.....a subpeona is a Judge's Order To Appear. Miss it, and they could technically get nailed for Contempt of Court.
I never miss court......#1, I don't need the hassles that come along with missing court. #2, I work nights.....every time I go to court it is on Over Time.

You never know how or why they come up with a speed limit for a particular area.
There is a spot on my way to work where the speed limit is 45 on one side of the street and 40 on the other. The 40 zone has no access and no businesses or residences on it and the 45 zone is full of both. You would think it would be the reverse. Go figure.
The county in its infinite wisdom placed a stop sign at my buddies driveway. There is no intersection there. There is no intersection within 100 yards of the stop sign. Most people will stop once and look around, shake their heads and continue on. If they use the road regularly, they will slow down but cruise past the sign. The cops don't even stop at this sign. The only ones who stop are the wetbacks. Then they look all around them to see if the cops or border patrol are there somewhere.
It really is funny to see the look on peoples faces when they try figure out why the sign is there.
I would love to see someone ticketed at this sign and be in the court room to see them fight it. I don't think there has ever been a ticket written at this sign.
The stop sign has been stolen three times and replaced each time.
Who dreams up this stupid ****?

I got popped for 69 in a 50 over the weekend and was kicking around on here to see what all might be posted on the subject. In my case, I pulled into a small town from a backroad and then pulled onto a highway that appeared to be 65mph in my opinion – there was nothing posted otherwise. I got on it to get up to speed and ran it up to 69 – not really meaning to. Well, I spot a cop on the outside of the city limits under a tree facing me a good ways past a 65mph sign and he pulled me over…….tells me what I did, but reduced it to 60mph in a 50mph because I told him I never saw any signs. Says that it won’t go on my record or insurance. $140. Not happy about it, but what are you gonna do really?
There defiantly are ‘speed trap’ towns. Apparently we had a law here in Oklahoma that punished towns for deriving more than 50% of their revenue from speeding tickets that was ‘appealed’ by some trickery of a state representative who had two of the five known ‘speed traps’ in his district.

If you read the comments….Alex, OK is where I got busted. Apparently they are known for their efforts to bust any and everyone who comes through there for anything over 50mph on an otherwise 65mph highway.
