So, not to highjack this thread, but are slip-on mufflers with Stage 1 kits ALWAYS louder than stock?
Without gettign into a 'loud is better/safer' arguement, the volume of the stock mufflers on my 09 Softail Custom are OK with me. Can slip-ons for Stage 1 be somewhat the same volume as stock?

the stages are often confused because there are so many different combinations. I always tell riders this.
Stage 1 is street legal performance with street legal sound (noise)
Stage 2 is performance with whatever sound you want (loud pipes) - not street legal - not meeting emissions or noise limits
All the other "stages" are just there for boasting benefits
