Well $ 55 your way your stuff...or $ 170 there way there stuff...oh yeah one time they only put in a 1/2 qt. in my primary...they said the noise was normal...good thing I checked, sure wound'nt want to be on a road trip,AND
Oil change performed at the dealer is the most dangerous activity your bike will encounter. Wrong oil, over or under filled, cross threaded, overtighten or not tighten at all. It ends up you might as well do it yourself at first place.
If you are going to have any one perform your work, make sure you do a shake down run a week before. Every time we set sail across the ocean, we always have a shake down run over a weekend.
You take care of your equipment, the equipment takes care of you. It is all about risk management how comfortable you trust the guy who only makes 9 dollars an hour.
oil filter $15.95 ... oil $5.95 per qt... 1 qt primary lube $6.95... total just under $50 .... the knowledge and confidence that you did the job right...priceless
I agree with everyone recommending doing it yourself. It's so much faster, cheaper, and you know it's done right. I don't know how many miles you've got on your current oil....and I always like to start out a trip with fresh fluids... But....with that said, I caught Sturgis last year at the end of a 2700 miler, and wanted to get a change before heading home. I found some folks doing full change with filter for $45 Dino, and $69 Synthetic. And that was HD filters, and MoCo Oil. So if you have to, you can get a pretty good deal once you're there. I think it was on Lazelle St. DO NOT GO TO Rapid City Harley and try to get an oil change. You'll get raped!
