I had my bike for nearly 6 months before getting involved in the local chapter. It's great just to be riding your bike by yourself but riding with a bigger group of Harleys in formation is awesome fun. Talk about rolling thunder. I also like the way they organise the rides and safety etc. is a consederation.

The other good aspect is just meeting other folks with a common interest.
Yeah I also figured it was somewhere I could go where peoples eyes wouldn't gloss over when I talked about my bike. Right now I don't know any other female riders.

I belong to National. I don't belong to our local group. it's not that I think I'm anti-social, I just don't like riding in groups. I find alot more peace and quiet (solitude) in riding alone.

Exactly except most of my buds are in the local chapter. The dealership owner (Hammond, LA) is a great guy and makes being a local member fun.

I keep up my National and Local memberships I don't get too much of a chance to participate in local events, although there are plenty.

Natl since 2001. Lots of benefits. Worth it, IMO.
