Anyone know what MI motorcycle plate laws are?

I want to go to a side mount plate on my superglide.

Can you have side mount plates? Does it have to be lit? Vertical.horizontal?

I think a plate light is a federal 50 state requirement. as far as orientation I dunno. I know here it can be written up as improper display of registration, or plate. But they never do anything to the bikers who are using it the wrong direction

 

Since HD has a couple of models on which the plate can be mounted vertically or horizontally, a local dealer is likely aware of what the state law allows.
