As a former LEO, the fact that he wrote the wrong license number, class, and state on the citation would have been enough to get the ticket thrown out. Who did he stop? The person whose name is on the citation or the person whose license info is on the citation? Also, if he got that info wrong, what else did he get wrong during the stop, the speed?
It won't get it thrown out here. The judges in our courts view the summons as just that....a piece of paper to summons you to court. Once you are there and bring up minor errors, he simply "amends" the summons and then hears the rest of the case. I see it happen all the time.

Seems like a bad ticket to me. Please post when this is all over. Inquiring minds want to know.

Do check with a lawyer. I think the cost would be worth it given what the outcome would be if you lost.

That is one reason that I went back to stock exhaust so that leo won't think that I'm trying harder than I am. Also, I have a FF helmet on and protective gear. Helps create the impression that I am a safety conscience rider. I call it marketing which I follow through with the polite conversation should I be pulled over. It has worked for me when I ran a stop sign in Sturgis and a Trooper stopped me. It also helped that I was a senior citizen. Then when they're not looking I go WOT!!

That sounds like a fair trial.
I hope that you are not banging his daughter.

The officer wrote a citation for me and one other rider without ever questioning the 3rd rider who left the scene (all of us are friends). The charge is will full speed competition. The descrepancies are:
  1. We were not speeding (he wrote "A65" which I assume is his guess that we went 65mph)
  2. We were not even side by side but in a staggered formation
  3. According to where the officer said he was parked he could not have aven seen us 50 feet past the light
  4. The fact that he let the 3rd rider (a female) go
  5. The information on my citation list my proper name and adress but license info is completely incorrect with wrong number, wrong state and wrong class

Also since he was a trooper, I am pretty sure he had a dash cam and I would like to obtain the video should I have to represent myself in court, can I do this and how?

The problem is this is not a minor offense, it can carry heavy fines, loss of license and even jail time. I was not racing and need to be able to prove this or at least find a technicality that will render the void.

Thanks
Get a lawyer.

I would think you would have to know the traffic laws in that particular city(town). Some towns have some really strange laws that only make sense to those that live there.
