Angry Traffic signals??

Wondering if this happens to anyone else...I'm sure it's not just me...But I thought I'd ask anyway. Anybody ever sit at a red light in an empty intersection and feel like a complete idiot because the stupid light wont change until a cage pulls up...this has happened to me several times and last night I was out riding around late and there wasn't hardly any traffic. Ever red light I hit I got stuck at!! I know some guys are going to say "Well just run it!" But with my luck there would be a LEO sitting somewhere I can't see and I get caught & most of the signals have red light cams on them now too....So I just started getting in the right lane and turning when I got stuck Please tell me this has happened to someone else?? If so, What do you do??

If no ones coming....run the damn light.

Or....go get one of those magnets you can attach to the frame, supposedly they help on most lights.

In most States if the light cycles twice you can go through it. You can check the laws in your State.

Check your local traffic laws. Most are written that if you sit at the light for 2 cycles and you still have a red light, it's OK to proceed with caution.

A lot of times you can see where the sensors are carved into the road. I try to ride up real close just inside the bar, if that's not enough, I drop the kickstand right down onto the bar in the road, I do this any time I suspect there might be a problem before I even wait long at all.

Most of the time that works around here. On a rare occasion, I'll find some that don't work, or I can't see the sensor, and I can't get it to change...

If that doesn't work, and I can tell the light is not changing, or changing for others and not me, I'll run it no problem, AFAIK that's legal to do here. If it's a big, or blind, intersection where I don't feel I can safely run it, then I'll just pull out to the right and make a u-turn...

Right on red and then u-turn if state does not allow running it

If you can see the sensor 'box' in the road, stop so that the center of the bike (the part with the most mass) is directly over the corner of the box. This works for me at a light I have to go through to get just about anywhere from my house. It's a bad intersection to run a light at, too. It's almost suicidal there to take a right on red never mind a left. It took a while to figure this out.

yeh, it has happened to me. although in my area it doesn't seem to happen too often.

funny one - i have stopped at a red light wanting to make a left turn. there is a left turn lane AND a left turn arrow. but the arrow doesn't go on unless it detects someone waiting in the left turn lane. it didn't detect me. i ran that one.

some say that you can get a magnet for the bottom of the bike. never tried that.

now i look for cut out on the road. usually it is like either a square or rectangle. and i will do like you - stay to the right. sometimes i will move up so the car behind me can it the 'zone'.

i have tried tilting the bike (07 ultra) and that has worked for me. just lean it over as far as i can (without dropping it).

in wisconsin, you can run the light if that situation comes up.
