SYN 3 is the BEST for your Harley.......You WILL use it.......Otherwise you WILL void your warranty.......

No seriously though.....Mobil 1 V-twin 20/50 is under $9.00 and change a quart at Wally world.

I'm sure SYN3 is an adequate product...But why send the money to Hugo and why pay $12.00 a quart? Mobil 1 is superior to SYN3 for sure.

Mobile One 15W-50 in the 5 quart jug at Walmart is $22...

That's $4.40 a quart.

Don't know if I could afford to pay that much.

Most of the guys I ride with use Mobil 1 15W50, and around here we get it for about $21, which comes out to right at $4.20 a quart..

To be honest, I wouldn't pay extra for the Mobil 1 20W50 V-Twin even if I could get it in the $6.50 a quart range. (Not sure what it is these days, but the last time I purchased V-Twin I believe it was around $8.00 a quart.)

UOA's that have been done on Mobil 1 15W50 show that there is very little difference in protection between it and Mobil 1 20W50 V-Twin when used in air cooled engines.

Also, my Harley dealership mechanic friend has told me many times that he has seen the inside of many very high mileage engines that have run nothing but the synthetic 15W50, and they are clean as a whistle with no noticeable wear on the components.

Everyone is free to use whatever oil they want, but I don't buy into the 'motorcycle specific' oil hype along with the jacked up prices, and it appears that in real world applications our Harley engines could care less what you feed them...
