what is a recon fee?

Thanks for the replies and advice; I can live with a negotiated fee for reconditioning, but if it was wrecked and rebuilt or "reconstructed", that's a deal killer.

my guess is that it's to cover their labor to shampoo the carpets, rotate the tires, change the blinker fluid and put synthetic air in the tires.

That's a new one...At least the dealers around here don't charge that! Just the sales tax and license/title fees. Now on a new bike, that's a whole other ballgame.
