Question : Is the government a ruling body that stands above and higher than the people or are the people the ones that stand above and higher than government ?

I think the founding fathers of your country would cry hearing such words from one of the citizens of the great nation they built. Doesn't the constitution of your country start with "We the people..." ?

I have the choice. I choose to always wear one. Fullface 90 percent of the time, cereal bowl the other 10. If you guys saw my father in the hospital for 3 month because some lady cut him of...I'm sure most of you would wear one too. I'm not preaching, I like the choice, it's just a "no brainer" for me. I remember the day he got into the accident, I was out riding my bike...with no helmet on.
The sad thing is, he would have walked away with bumps and bruises. Instead he had half his skull removed and a pressure gauge in his head for 6 weeks. He still rides though, the same bike he crashed. He left the dents in the tank to remind himself to put on his helmet.

99% of the time I have my Icon Mainframe full face on. Haven't always been that way but over the last 4 years I'm really trying to wear it.

After going down and ending up in the hosp. and having a cracked helmet saving my scull, I never leave home with out one.

No helmet state, always wear a full face. I agree with oldschoolmedic...don't wear the helmet and you should pay the increased premium due to increase in injury / medical expense exposure. Wear gear that can decrease injury costs and get a discount on your premium....just like smokers paying higher medical and life insurance premiums.

I get what he's saying...if you allow the governement to foot the bill, then you also have to expect they will make the rules. This happens now with the federales telling the states what they will make the speed limit, seatbelt laws, blood alcohol limits, or they will withhold federal highway dollars. Once Obamacare is passed and everyone gets health coverage from the government, the government will be allowed to dictate use on ANYTHING that effects healthcare costs....smoking, eating fatty foods, gun control due to gunshot wounds...the list is endless.

That's the point though. Who is this mysterious government footing the bill ? "We the people...". The government doesn't have a 9-5 job where it makes money to pay for these infrastructures, the people do. So in a sense, the people should be making the rules, and some are trying. You guys just seem to have given up and are ready to let this "government" entity be something more than it should be, some higher power, instead of "by the people, for the people". You and Haus are what people commonly call sheep, those who want to be told how to live so they don't have to make choices for themselves.

Only in cold weather...

or in route to an out of state trip where one is required...

or when rain may be encountered.

No helmet law, but I choose to wear one most of the time. Occasionally will go without. Like most everyone, I'm thankful that I have the choice
