I always wear one. I was in an accident with a driver that did not see me . I went down pretty hard and broke a couple of ribs but because we were wearing a helmet and protective jackets we did not have any road rash. The wife walked away with only bumps and bruises. My helmet was in pretty bad shape and I would not want to see what had happened to my head had I not been wearing anything. I feel that the only reason I was able to walk out of the hospital several hours later was because I had the helmet on. The sad thing was we had just gotten started on our trip and were only 2 miles from the house. The really bad part was it took almost 3 months to get the bike fixed.

No helmet law in my state but I still wear one because of all the idiots that are texting and yapping on there cell phones and not paying attention to the road really does make you think twice about wearing the brain bucket.

It's getting worse all the time out there. Riding a bike on the freeway is like beeing in the middle of a battlefield.

I live in a no helmet state. I do not wear one. When I take a trip out of state, I will avoid states that require one and will plan trips accordingly. Having said that, I also agree that helmets save lives without question. To me, it's about choice, and I choose not to. As it should be.

I live in Texas and I wear a helmet way more often than not (now days). For me, it is more about living in a major metroplex. If I still lived in west texas I would rarely wear a helmet.

I'll stop when they make the roads, cars, curbs and light poles soft.

Yup, I ride my bike to work every day, it's about 15 miles each way and wear a full face helmet. It's kind of nice in the morning when the temps are cooler and keeps the bugs out of my teeth on the way home. I almost never wear it for pleasure riding.

Sure. I wear a shorty Polo style flat black non DOT unit
And I have a no helmet sticker on my license plate. I paid $5 and sent in the docs to the state to get it.
So your Poll doesnt account for that.
